"In
my experience of matching companies with investors from different
countries around the world resulting in creating North America largest
Venture Capital exposition, and more recently found the following
commonality;
- Emerging
companies are constrained in their growth programs by lack of
capital in their early stages.
- These
companies are finding it increasing difficult to raise equity
capital.
- One
of the main reasons cited by presidents and owners of these companies
is the communication and rationalization of the company's value
proposition to investors.
- Targeting
the appropriate Venture and Angel Capital for the industry and
the company.
I found
that understanding the present and future investment criteria which
these companies need to meet, and communicating these to my clients
is critical part of the success in raising equity finance.
The old
adage, "first in best dressed" has never been more true
in today's quest for equity finance. The companies that can prepare
themselves for a high standard of due diligence by the investor
increase their probability of success exponentially. Similar to
the Darwinian theory of "survival of the fittest."
